Most people who have experienced acne are worried about their scars. Acne scars are permanent marks left behind by severe acne. They are small crater like impressions on the skins which are difficult to cover with skin care products or even with make-up. While they do not have major physical effect, the bearers of their scars are emotionally affected and turn to being self conscious about their faces. Acne is known as an inflammatory health problem of the glands near or around the pores and hair follicles of the skin that is marked by a build up of pimples or acne redness, especially on the face and or neck. While acne is not infectious, a considerable segment of the population is affected. Eighty percent of the youth until their twenties are affected and, five percent of the adults are susceptible of having it.
If the acne occurs on the same spot of the skin as before, there would be a tendency to develop the scar as the skin would not be able to heal and remodel which take approximately 6-12moths. If after that period the change in color or skin defect remains, that is the small crater-like scar, these would be in most likelihood remain permanent marks in the skin.
This is why it is very important to “nip this problem in the bud”, so to speak. If you see that you are beginning to develop some form of acne, whether it is severe or not, you should seek the attention of a medical professional that specializes in skin care, a dermatologist. This skin doctor will be able to prescribe some acne medication that will be able to lessen the effects of acne on your skin over time. These prescription medicines are much more effective than the store bought kind. They are also known to be much more gentle on the skin.
